would it be smart to buy a dozen shares of Ford Stock hold it for 4-6 months then...

Ford will be a good stock in the long run. 4-6 months is not the long run. I'm talking 2 years maybe more.

The Image GM and Chrysler created for themselves the past 10 years is pretty bad. Ford on the other hand, took initiative a couple years ago to improve quality, fuel efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Ford, in my opinion, wanted to compete on a higher level, which was against the Asian carmakers. GM and Chrysler weren't even close.

Ford also knew that if an economic downturn were to occur, the company would be in big trouble financially, they took the initiative to cut back costs and to become more efficient and to have a better cash position. That says a lot about the management. And what do you know? They're the only ones that didn't need a bailout or government support.

With all that said, Ford has gained lots of market share over it's American competitors. A lot of people don't want anything to do with another GM or Chrysler product because of the bad quality over the years. That's an image burned into the minds of many Americans, and it will be hard to get rid of for GM and Chrysler.

Ford all the way!

Ford stock is to volatile. Single stocks are not the answer, if you must invest a good growth stock mutual fund with a track record of gains ten percent or higher is recommended.

Yes. Ford is a strong company and avoided becoming a government toy. Their stock will rise thanks to leadership and brand recognition. I stick closer to 6 months. Etrade is a good website. I've used it and find it simple, straightforward, and helpful.
