Would it be safe to put apple cider vinegar in my dogs flaky patches?

My dog has these flaky patches (they are like heavy dandruff) that I think is mange, but my mom thinks it is hot spots. I think its mange because ...I don't know.. I've done research about it and it seems like its the beginning of mange (we just noticed it today). I don't think its the hot spots because he had those before and they weren't flaky like this. The soonest we can go to the vet is Monday, which is a little over 2 days from now and I want to do what I can for him. So, we can either put the hot spot remedy stuff we have in his fur, or the apple cider vinegar. Which do you suggest? Anything different I should do?

why not give her a bath with some kind of medicated shampoo made for dogs and leave the medicating for a professional who knows what he is doing and not guessing at this or that. the medicated shampoo may help loosen the flaky patches and then you can give the dog a good brushing which may also help get the oils stimulated in the hair.

I would not use apple cider vinegar if you think its a hotspot. I know a lot of people recommend it but a hotspot is an open wound. Vinegar would be really painful. The point of using vinegar is to disinfect the wound, so you can just as easily use another antiseptic that isn't painful. If you think it needs disinfecting then try povidone iodine mixed with warm water until it looks like iced tea. You can then clean the wound with it, and don't rinse it off, leave it on the skin. Since you are really unclear on what it is I would wait for the vet's diagnosis before trying anything else.
