year or two? I'll still have a some eligibility left. I'm a successful Division III runner and would love the chance to run for a bigger program for a couple seasons.

Medical school is tough. I do not know of any medical student that has managed to find ANY time to do anything but study. Would you risk your medical career "for a couple of seasons" of the glory days? Or would you rather have finished your residency program first and then start training to qualify for the Boston Marathon at age 27?

Set your priorities. You're not a kid anymore. Residency programs and real life don't care about varsity letters.
