Would it be catty or rude to discuss this point?

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day and he mentioned a point that I found rather offensive. I told him as much, we each presented reasons for our opinions civilly, and neither of us were swayed. We didn't exactly agree to disagree.. I still think his point is pretty offensive... but the conversation moved on.

I am going to a party tonight with another of my friends, who he used to be friends with as well. She's mentioned before that she finds a number of his opinions offensive, and it's not unusual for us to get into discussions on the topic that he and I were discussing earlier this week.

Would it be catty or rude of me to mention that he and I had a discussion on a similar topic and that I found his views offensive? Or should I just keep my mouth shut?
It wasn't an argument with him, and it won't be an argument with her either. It's a discussion of a sociopolitical principle that has an effect on our lives.

Why perpetuate the rancor? Let it go and in future, ignore him and do not let yourself be baited into a conversation that will lead to arguments.

It sounds as though you are asking if you should open a conversation with your friend for the sole purpose of talking badly about another friend. There is not much to gain from such a conversation and I can't recommend it.

A point to consider: If someone will gossip TO you, it is very likely they will gossip ABOUT you. Better to not engage at all than to have people wonder what you are saying about THEM behind THEIR backs.
