Would it be better to apply to a Cal State school I know I can get into now, or...?

I would suggest community college first: its much cheaper than 2 years of regular college, and it gives you a chance to raise your GPA from what you had in high school. Plus, you won't have to take the SATs if you complete your associates degree before you transfer!

Also, going to a community college allows you to find out what you're interested in and then transfer to a school that specializes in that field.
 
...or go to a community college first and go to a UC school instead?
