Would I need to get a new head unit for my car if I am getting two 12" subs in a box?

I am just getting two 12" sony xplod subwoofers (I know they're cheap but they're good enough for me) and I have a 99 Tahoe with the stock Chevy head unit/cd player/radio. I was just wondering if I should upgrade the head unit when I purchase the subs.

And also, is the installation of a box and amp and head unit hard? Is it worth it to set up yourself or should I just pay the $50-$75 that it would cost to professionally install?

yes u should get a new head unit cuz when i installed my 2 12"s i had to install a new head unit cuz my stock radio didn't have the right hook ups or anything but if u know how to do it it shouldn't take that long but if u dont pay some on to do it

A head unit makes a big difference because of the rca outputs are a higher voltage out put. Plus you can get a amp adjuster on the deck and it takes about 20 mins. to install a deck in that vehicle. I would also have the amp and subs installed because if you have any problems they can figure it out for you.
