Would I be weird if I wore a long skirt to school (Nervous "freshman"...)?

By "Skip the long skirt", do you mean to wear the dress? I own mostly skirts and dresses...
I don't normally care about what people think of my outfit, but Monday's my first day of school and I want to make a good first impression. I just moved a couple days ago, so I haven't been able to get to know anyone so far. I'm starting 10th grade, but I skipped 9th, making me the only person in my grade that doesn't have any high school experience yet! (I know for sure that I'm the only one.) Plus, I'm really shy around new people, and it takes a little effort to make new friends.

Because of the reasons given, I want to make sure everything goes off nicely, and that includes how my possible future friends will perceive me at first. I'm thinking an ankle-legnth white skirt with a nice purple top, or possibly a purple dress. I usually wore dressier clothes than my classmates in 8th grade, but I didn't care what they thought. What would be your first impression? Any tips, tricks, or comfort to offer?
Okay so no long skirt. ._. I guess it's sort of obvious that I'm into Victorian fashion...

Jackie's suggestion reminded me of this though, would it be okay?
