Would Ghostbusters 2 fit in the cartoons in anyway?

Some people online seem to believe Ghostbusters 2 does fit in with the cartoon series, due to some bits in episodes such as:

Partners In Slime- Included as a movie tie in for the Ghostbusters 2 DVD and has the slime which responds to one's mood.

Mean Green Teen Machine- The episode with the Ninja Turtles styled ghosts. Egon and Winston talk about the previous time they dug up the streets.

I could be misinterpreting it wrong, but it seems that the start of Ghosbusters 2 clashes with Citizen Ghost (which bridges the gap between the first movie and cartoon). I simply figure that some events from the 2nd movie simply happened in a different fashion offscreen.

Thoughts?

Never mind the fact that Louis had to be about, what, 21 or younger when they finally brought him in? ugh...I'd love to see the show return with the darker/more realistic style of the first season..

Canonically to the animated series, the movies we know were simply based on their adventures with some Hollywood embellishment.

According to the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, the two films were movies based on the adventures of the Real Ghostbusters, although the events of the two movies did happen, the main differences was that Gozer/Stay-Puff was trapped into a Ghost Trap instead of the Ghostbusters destroying his dimension by crossing the streams, and that the Ghostbusters never broke up by the time of Ghostbusters II.
