Yes, but he was one of the best. I remember watching a highlight film where he scored six or seven touchdowns.

One of the best, yes. I don't know about THE best.As a runner, receiver, and return man, Sayers could do it all. As a pro, he was everything Reggie Bush was supposed to be decades later.

Debatable. He would have been one of the greatest running backs in nfl history, but then again, he's already considered among the best running backs. He was also a great kick returner. The problem with calling someone the greatest player in nfl history is that its really hard to compare players of different positions. In the NBA, the NHL, and in baseball, regardless of what position you play, you can still compare stats. In the NFL, you cant compare a RB to a QB, or a WR or any defender, it just doesn't work that way. So picking a single greatest is almost impossible to do.If I had to pick a single greatest player in NFL history, I would probably pick someone like Sammy Baugh. The thing that makes Baugh special was that he was a great quaterback, among one of the best ever, but was also a good defensive back and a punter. He played all sides of the ball, which is something we may never see again, not on a full time basis.

He would've been one of the best. It's hard to tell who's the pest football player of all-time since each position is very different from one another, unlike basketball where the positions aren't that different from each other. But I will say he would've been one of the top 3 running backs of all-time.

He would probably be considered one of the top running backs of all time, but not the greatest player. That title belongs to Jim Brown. With his injuries, he basically played only 5 seasons but made a huge impact. Had he played 10 or so, he would probably hold the all purpose yards record.4 Pro Bowl selections 5 All-Pro selection NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time TeamNFL 1960s All-Decade Team1965 Rookie of the Year3 Pro Bowl MVP Sayers was a slashing runner, he could cut on a dime, and pile up big chunks of yardage against teams that were much better than the Bears at the time. He was fast and hard to tackle and an excellent receiver.
