Would Fabric Softener be a good dust repellant to put on the intakes of my tower?

I was curious if this would be a good solution to keeping dust out of my tower without spending 50$ on a few sheets of patented products. Also could this possibly mess something up within the tower. I know it will smell good
So filter meaning it will completely keep the dust out?
