Would eating a hot Jalapeno pepper plain taste more or less hot if (not as hot)...

...Tabasco sauce was added to it? I think that adding an extra ingredient, though still hot but not as hot as the Jalapeno, would overall make the combo taste hot than the Jalapeno alone (lower concentration of Jalapeno).
Someone else argues that the hotness is additive -- it tastes more hot with the extra Tabasco sauce.
Someone else argues it tastes the same -- only the most hot item will be tasted.
So, which is correct? What I'm looking for is the INTENSITY of the hotness taste.
