would a yamaha wr450f 4-stroke beat a yz250 2-stroke?

usually one finds out on the track meaning it depends on the riders skill.

Depends on riders skill and the layout of the track , if the majority of the track demands short bursts of speed and top gear is unlikely to be used then the 2-stroke has the advantage as it is lighter .

In a straight line over significant distance the 4-stroke wins .
