Would a reader object to adoted siblings forming an intimate relationship as young adults in a fictional book?

I am writing a book that involves a young man and a young girl, both adopted between the ages of 5 and 10 from different parts of the world and raised by the same wealthy man. The two are best friends, as they have grown up with each other, and share a deep compassion for one another. As a reader, would you find it awkward or borderline wrong if, through tragedy and peril, an intimate relationship formed between the two in their later teens/early twenties (18-21)? Is there an age difference that would make it easier or does it matter?
