Ive got a vintage HK receiver hooked up to my turntable, and I can of course hook up an A set and a B set of speakers. Ive got two completely differnt speakers hooked up right now.
One set BES 8 ohm speakers
One set Cerwin Vega 6 ohm speakers
Some songs sound great on the BES, mostly acoustic and trumped style music but they cant handle the bass of 80's rock and electric music
The cerwin vegas dominate 80's tunes but dont sound very natural for acoustic and "real" instruments.
The time i like to have them both on is for real instruments electronically modified like distorted guitars and amplified drums, the cerwin vegas do most of the work as they play louder at 6 ohms and the BES just take over the top end.
Somewhere along the line i feel like this is wrong, I know speakers of different make and model produce different sounds and almost never mix well. I am trying to be a critical listener and and need a little guidance. It might sound good to me now but would this be something the trained ear would disapprove of?
