the criminal? I want to get information on a man that abused me when I was a child. He was an immigrant, and he died of old age in 2003.
I want a picture more than anything. I have his full name and address. If I tell the police what happened will they help me or not legally be able to do anything because the man is dead and had no criminal records(that I'm aware of, anyways). I have a professor right now that is also a police officer, I asked him about this and he said he needed a reason to search his databases as it is recorded who they search and all that.
Would me just wanting closure be good enough? I haven't told him the story, just asked a vague question about searching the databases. Would it be illegal for him to get me a picture if one is available?

I don't want anything on him like a criminal record. I don't care about that. I want a picture. Passport picture, DMV picture, anything that might be availiable. I'm asking if my professor, a police officer would have a good reason by my reasons alone to see if there is a picture of the guy I want a picture of in any database he's got access to. I know he wouldn't do if it was illegal, but I don't want to tell him my personal business unless he can help me legally.
