I compete with my dance school but want my navel pierced. Our costumes tend to be fitted (like a leotard/swimsuit) and I'd get in trouble if you could see lumps really prominently through the costumes. My mum said no because she makes my solo costumes and isn't putting the effort in to have it ruined by the fabric being raised at points due to a piercing. Would it definitely be visible? Is there any way to get it done without something showing through? It's not just a case of from the stage but also when we're around the judges and teachers.

thanks

Yes it will be visible. I worked in a restaraunt and just having to tuck our polo shirts in made our navel piercings visible. Your best bet is to wait until you are finished with competing. Also, the healing takes a while and can hurt quite a bit so it might cause problems for your dancing as well.
