Would a lycra seat cover help slow down the fading of my jeans when I bike?

I ride a fixie so my legs are always spinning. On top of that, I wear Levi's. My jeans started to fade in the crotch area because my jeans kept rubbing on my hard leather? seat. My friends told me having fabric as a seat cover helps slow down or stop the fading because jeans don't fade if rubbed against smoth fabric. So I bought myself a lycra seat cover in hopes of saving my jeans.

Am I doing the right thing or will my jeans just keep fading as it always as been? Would getting a softer foam filled seat help the solve the fading problem?
