Would a kitten grab my two fish out of the fish tank?

If I get a kitten, I am afraid that if I let her into my room, she will grab my two fish out of my fish tank and eat them. Or are kittens afraid of that kind of water? There is a lid that covers most of the top but th reast of like 3 centimeters is open. So ould sh be able to take the lid of big using her paws?
 
Nah...she won't eat them. She might be curious and watch them, but that's kinda why the fish are there, aren't they? What else do you do with them...not really a tummy rub or go for a walk kinda pet...lol.

I just returned my nieces hamster after 2 weeks. I was worried that my cat would---maybe not eat it---but torment it. Cat didn't care one bit. He'd pay attention when I fed or played with it, but never made a move.

Maybe I just have a good cat...I'm gonna go scratch his tail now. :)
 
If your tank has a cover on it, your fish should be fine. You could always tape a piece of cardboard over that 3 cm space so that the kitten can't get her little paws in there.
 
Is it possible? Yes, definitely. One cat I used to have climbed on top of the fish tank several times and successfully grabbed some of the fish. However...

Is it probable? No. I've had many cats over the years and only one who ever tried her hand at fishing. You're probably safe. However, if it does become a problem, spray the new kitten with a water bottle (in a humane manner) and/or block her access to the hole as best as you can without damaging the functionality of the tank.
 
Let her in your room, just put some screen netting over top, just in case...cats do love just waching the fish too!
 
I have a lovely Blue Russian male cat that would fling himself up onto our big aquarium that was on a stand, I am not sure of the gallonage but he would be hanging on to the edge with his little fingers and start rocking/swinging side to side like he wanted to tip it over. Weirdest thing I have ever seen.
Once he even leapt from stair railing landed on top, knocking the light half way off & he partially fell in, like a foot, part of his leg.
Honestly I don't think he meant harm to the fish as much as the movement of the fish caught his attention.
