Would a Ducati 848 EVO make a good beginner bike for a 16 year old beginner?

Now I know what your problably thinking, "Is this dude on crack or something?" Well first off I'm very responsible, I am not going to be throttle happy, I'm booked for an MSC/MSF course for October, and when I graduate I was looking at a Ducati 848 EVO brand spanking new, I do NOT care if I drop it (how can you drop it anyways?) and I wanna impress girls and be coolest kid in my school :)

A new a $13,000 superbike is an totally stupid idea for a 16-year-old.

You are not "very responsible." You are a KID for God's Sake! You do not the years to learned that you are or not responsible -- your choice of a motorcycle is saying you are not responsible. You are also too rich to have learned responsibility. You don't care because you can pay insurance for your toy. I can not afford your insurance -- Hell, a your first three months for insurance premium will buy me a new vehicle! You claim you are "responsible" yet "I do NOT care if I drop it!" You don't even know how easy it is to drop a bike.

And then this "wanna impress girls" thing? You are stupid. Girls don't know a 848 EVO to a Ninja 250R. Most girls go "ohhh.... Ninja!" and "huh? want's a EVO?" You want to be "cool" -- who are you trying to impress -- 12-15 year old boys? Is that what you want? You think "cool" is something you can buy, such as a EVO? BWAHAHAHAHA!!

It depends if you have ever rode, whether it be a quad or dirt bike, and how long you have been riding, because these bikes require years of experience, weather or not it would be a good bike for you. Judging by your mentality, i am going to assume that you are somebody that maybe has a small dirt bike....85 or 125 if any, and actually believes he is good on a bike. I can tell this because you obviously do not realize the responsibility of riding a dirt bike yet even thinking about a street bike, and first off everybody says this before they get the bike..."Well first off I'm very responsible, I am not going to be throttle happy".....and next if you knew anything you would have never said this...."(how can you drop it anyways?)".......and don't say that these people giving you these opinions on here are all adults, because I am your age 16, but i have a totally different mentality then you, and probably because I realize how much responsibility it requires to be smart while riding, that's why i am going to say it is a horrible idea to get this bike, and i am also guessing your parents are totally oblivious to what you are getting into. And another thing you should think about, is that IT'S NOT "IF" YOU WRECK, IT'S "WHEN" YOU WRECK....because everybody crashes sooner or later....just something to think about.......and if you must get your motorcycle license, then i say to get whatever your motorcycle school is going to use, because they will use a bike that is suitable for beginners like you.

[1] Is this kid on crack or something?
[2] Sorry, 16/responsible don't belong in the same sentence
[3] You "don't care if you drop it"?
-a scratched up bike isn't "cool"
-Ducati parts are extremely expensive
-a dropped bike usually leads to a scuffed-up and/or hospitalized rider
[4] "How can you drop it anyways (sic)"? I can't believe you actually wrote that. That's like saying, "bikes can't crash", or "people don't die".
[5] "I wanna impress girls and be coolest...": Both totally DUMB reasons for owning a bike, and guaranteed to make you uncool.
[6] Even if you can afford the bike (I doubt it), you won't be able to afford the insurance.
[7] Taking the MSF course is a very small, early step toward becoming a proficient rider. It in NO way prepares you or qualifies you to ride a Ducati sport-bike.
[8] Is this kid on crack or something?

Either your question is a troll, or you are among the most misguided or delusional people asking a question in this section of Y!A.

In addition to the other responses... girls are not impressed by crotch rockets... Especially after they are all scratched up and damaged after they are crashed by young idiots trying to handle more motorcycle that they are prepared for...

Girls like motorcycles they can ride on. Get a cruiser with a nice comfy saddle and backrest, and you'll get more girls

No, no, and in so many ways, NO! It wouldn't be legal anyway, but I don't believe for a second that you wouldn't open it up and kill yourself within a month, perhaps even a week, just to show off and "impress girls and be coolest corpse in my school :)". If you have to ask "how can you drop it", then you don't have the first clue about riding, or adequate road sense about what other drivers are capable of and shouldn't be allowed on a pedal bike, let alone a Duke.

Nothing more to say, really!

JetDoc: It's much more fun to have a sports bike and have a gorgeous girl holding you tightly though ;)
