I have a 1994 Mazda 626, and its in need of a new engine. I have found a 1995 Mazda 626 engine at a reasonable price....but would it work properly in my car?
The 1993-1997 Mazda 626, Mazda MX-6, and Ford Probe all shared the same 2.0L and 2.5L engines. Those engines are all perfectly interchangeable amongst those three vehicles for 1993-1997 model years. So yes. It will interchange fine.
check with your local auto wrecker as they have cross reference guides that tell then what engine swaps are possible. Could be as the OBD II did not happen until 1996, so your computer may work fine for this engine. also you may need to check your state rules to see if they would pass this swap during your air pollution check.
