Wots hot, Wots not?

As horrible as it is, hip hop i think is on top at the moment. And i don't think rock will ever be as big as it once was. The world is too... iono... blinded by big assed women and crack to listen to anything else.
 
Wow. Explosions, stop while you are ahead. You are just like every other kid who belives that they have impecable music taste, because you trash rap music, and worship classic rock. You are not original. Your taste in music is not new.
 
i don't really think indie is a genre, it just seems to cover a range of music that is too wide.....i'm not really sure how to categorize banRAB like broken social scene, xiu xiu, B&S, neutral milk hotel but it strikes me that they make fairly similar music. but you can't exactly put banRAB like Clor, The faint and Aqueduct in the same boat as them even though they're on independant labels.
 
Indie means music on an Independent label. It's just people have blown it out of context and are calling everything indie. It's not pointless, it's actually one of the best genres of music on the planet today. It provides good talent that's just waiting to be discovered, and lets a band grow without being under the watchful eye of things like MTV that basically convert a band into being another clone.
 
We also get crappy stations in here... and crappy music channels too. There are always a good month too late on everything. And their rotations of songs are totally digusting. There are two decent channels... and even there you have to be lucky to hit a song you like.

It makes sense that a record store would have an indie section, because indie is any band on an independent label, but that DOESN'T make it a genre.

But go ahead, tell me, what makes a band indie?
 
No. I said Hot Hot Heat were an indie band because they were signed to an independent label, making them an indie band. But being a band on an independent label, and thus being referred to as "indie," has NOTHING to do wth indie as a genre.

Indie isn't a genre, it means about as much as being "underground."
 
I was going to post JMT because they are my favorite underground at the moment, but I didn't know if she would like it. I thought that it would be better if I posted PE instead.
