ive given it some thought. im so frustrated with not being able to find work. if i joined the army could i get job in computer IT work instead of being sent to combat? not that i dont want to fight, i would just rather not. i just want a job and to further my education.
anyone whos been in the army that can tell me if its worth it or doable?

Yea alot of people are joining the army because there are no jobs and the army gaurentees your jobs you can pick whatever you want to do as long as you do good on the ASVAB. You want to get at least a 50 to have a wide range of careers to choose from. You should contact a recruiter and look at some careers

The Army is NOT a place to go "just" for a job. The Army (heck, any branch) is a lifestyle, and you either adapt or you don't.

Sure, there are plenty of jobs that aren't typical combat positions. You do not have to join any of the combat arms if you qualify for something else. But know that you WILL be expected to maintain basic Soldier skills, to include annual weapons qualification and the physical fitness test. Heck, even us medical folks have to do this (I actually enjoy it)

Even with a computer type IT job, there is still the possibility for deployment. Plenty of military installations in Iraq and Afghanistan are equiped with computers. You may not be in combat, but you are deployed nonetheless.
