Ok, so those of you who read my post asking for advice about tooth pain know that I was in pretty bad shape Sunday night. I went to the ER and they just looked in my mouth, put me on antibiotics, and gave me a good Rx for Vicotin.
Monday I went to the dentist bright and early and they took a couple x-rays and promptly sent me to a specialist to have my root canal re-done. Apparently, the dentist who did the first root canal only filled in one one canal and not another, so it had been harboring bacteria for quite a while and had caused the filling to be completely corrupted. They spent a good 45 minutes drilling out the tooth before they filled it.
Now, remember that great vicotin that I as given at the ER? Well, turns out I have a sensitivity to it, so from 6:30 am to 1 pm Tuesday was spent with my head in the toilet puking up bile. Oh, what a lovely taste. It completely shredded my throat and now, 3 days later, it still hurts.
Wednesday, I was actually feeling a lot better and ventured out to go to class. Probably not the best idea. Thursday I paid for it big time. I woke up at 3 am with excruciating pain in my tooth and chin. I waited until 8 and went to see a doctor because I was afraid an infection had taken hold again.
After driving around for about a half hour looking for the clinic (there are about 5 clinics around town that the hospital can send you to and I hadn't ever been to this particular location) I finally got to see a doctor. She told me to call the specialist who did the second root canal. They told me to take 1000 mg of Tylenol, wait 3 hours, and then take 800 mg of Ibuprofin. So I was good and doped up again.
Thank God I'm feeling better today because I was about to go insane.
Well, I take that back, now my nose is a drippy faucet. I think I caught a cold from someone. *sigh*
If you think your week was bad, just take comfort in the fact that I probably had a much worse week.
