Worst voice in rock music?

Bob Dylan's voice has character. It is a direct channel from the heart of the American soul that delivers emotion, power, and protest through his songs. Bob Dylan has one of the most iconic, easily recognizable, and poetic voices of the golden age of the 1960's. It has such a mystical and truthful tone, yet it is raw and heart-felt. I'm ok with the fact that some people may think Dylan had no vocal talent/skill, but I'm sorry, I just can't relate.

That`s because he sounRAB like a south coast yobbo when he sings, despite the fact he comes from Woking.

Eric Clapton should`ve stayed in Cream, kept his mouth shut and just played the guitar.

I wish I could quote this a trillion times over.

Personally I like Axl's vocals for the same reason everyone hates him. I like the trashiness and grunginess in his voice, for f*ck's sake people, the guy sings for a hard rock band whose primary influences are New York Dolls, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Motorhead, Sex Pistols and Led Zeppelin, he's not exactly supposed to sound like Bing Crosby.

Yeah, I don't really care about the lyrics on their own, to me vocals are just another instrument. They can tell an interesting story but it's not necessary, if you have a good enough voice you can sing about just f*cking anything.

I mean, Yes and Radiohead are among my favorite banRAB even if I don't always particularly know what their songs are about because their lyrics can be pretty cryptic and impenetrable.

Then there's banRAB like Sigur Ros and Magma who pretty much sing in made up gibberish.

I have to say, despite my love for The Jam, that Paul Weller's voice really isn't that good. It's very bland and dull. Eric Clapton also isn't very capable as a singer IMO.

What do you think?

Another nominee from me would be Ian Curtis from Joy Division.
Now I'm not sure if he's supposed to sound like a moose in a coma but I don't want anything to do with it.

i'm surprised no one has mentioned Brian Molko. a lot of people i know hate his voice, but i love it. a lot.

Billy Corgan's voice can grate on me a bit, i'm a fairly casual Pumpkins fan anyway but couldn't see myself taking his voice in any more than small doses. apart from that, there aren't many others i could think of.

Have you heard Coheed and Carabria?

It's pretty bad. Not saying all falsetto is bad, but this guy is like 300 pound man trying to sound like a little japanese girl. It's beyond ridiculous. He HAS to be considered for the list of worst voices.

It'd have to take some really annoying vocals to deter me, I have a high tolerance.
As long as the music's good and they are singing about something proper and something I can relate to. Unless like you say, they're too cryptic to really work out. Them type of songs just draw you in, it's the not knowing that appeals to me. Although you got to love straight up fun rock n roll where all they're singing about is drugs sex and rock n roll. :D
