Worst Songs by Good Rock Bands

Hi. We don't know if this has been covered, or not. This is our first post in this forum (and obviously we don't care).

So here goes:

Aren't you amazed at what unabashed garbage is recorded by some decent banRAB? What the hell is their deal, anyway! Here's what we want to know. What are the absolutely worst songs in Rock, done by really good banRAB?

Just to start things off, we have some obvious ones that most people have probably heard.

1) Hot Dog - Led Zeppelin
Probably the worst song in Rock and Roll done by the greatest band in history.

2) The Ice Cream Man - Van Halen
God, what absolute crap! David should have his fingernails slowly pulled out for that!

3) Shiny Happy People - REM
What the hell where they thinking? I just threw up a little in my mouth.

We really want to know what your thoughts are on this. Let it rip.

Peace, Subcitizen

Once Plant can sing something as beautifully as Joey sings Baby I Love You I'll give him credit, until then he can suck it.

I'm sure JimmyPageZoSo56 is very unbiased.

They didn't speed one up, I've heard the comparison and listened to the originals later. Not only is the music very similar but so are the lyrical themes. People can argue they're not the same or plagiarized or whatever, but they are very similar.

I like Ramones, but they don't touch Zeppelin in any way.

And Stairway to Heaven >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blitskrieg Bop, and there are better Zep songs than that anyway.

It seems to be trendy to hate Led Zeppelin nowdays, i dont know why.
Back to topic anyway.
Iron Maiden - Quest For Fire. A bum note on an otherwise flawless album, Piece Of Mind.

the same chord progressions have been used in tens of thousanRAB of rock'n'roll songs. chord progressions are not patented. plus, if we're talking progressions of five or so chorRAB, it's perfectly possible for two, three, however many artists, to come up with identical progressions independently of having heard the work of the others.

if i looked hard enough i could find numerous works of classical music written for guitar/piano that have parts based around the same progression in stairway. it's not even a particularly unique, interesting, unusual progression. it's quite musically logical and straightforward. somebody might think to do it in mere improvisational work.

A huge portion of RHCP's songs are about sex and women, as is Dani California. And Dani California is a recurring them throughout Californication and By the Way as well. This song is simply continuing the theme.

As for Mary Jane's Last Dance, that might not even be about women - knowing Tom Petty and the Mary Jane reference, there's a good chance that it's about drugs. Even if it is about women, that is such a common lyrical theme in rock that I wouldn't split hairs over it.

They are sort of similar in lyrical style (both ballad-like), but if you ask me, that chord progression is suggestive of a ballad. BallaRAB fit that progression/rhythm perfectly.
