Worst. Series. EVER.

For me, it would be Teen Titans. Not just because I hated the series itself. It was annoying, unfunny, shallow, and a complete mockery of one of my favourite comic series. But more than that, it symbolized a change in the industry to me. Action cartoons could no longer be just action, they needed to have a huge amount of comedy. All cartoons needed to be kid-oriented. Since the series aired, I've noticed most cartoons become shallow and unfunny, tame, and relying on base humour. And besides all this, it was ridiculously popular, just making it worse.

Luckily they've improved within the last year or so, but I still haven't forgiven Teen Titans.

Perhaps you could explain why, although in the case of Out of Jimmy's Head, I think it might be self explanatory.

As for Johnny Test, while it's far from being a favorite of mine, I wouldn't say that it's the worst series I've ever seen.

I wrote an entire Uncyclopedia article directed at Johnny Test. I think it explains my hatred of this show pretty damn well. There's also a lot of stupid humor.

http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Test

Johnny Test is the show about a super-extreme pre-teen that likes to play video games and go skateboarding, just like you! He has a talking dog, and genius sisters that use him like a lab rat! Isn't that cool and wicked and awesome and sweet and filled to the brim with buzzwords that I'm dumping down your ass?

Susan and Mary are the politically correct super genius women, because girls can do anything that they set their minds to! They are constantly crushing on the cute guy, named Gil. Just like you! They are constantly coming up with crazy schemes to attract him.

True but the OP shouldnt have been so vague imo. What consistutes as the worst series ever? People were picking Family Guy left and right which is stupid because the first three seasons disquaifly it from any worst ever list. For me, the title thread seemed a little silly because there really is no such thing as the worst cartoon ever, theres a lot of bad ones but thats it. Plus this thread lost credibity the moment it started, how in the world is TMNT the worst series ever? OP may not of liked it but the damn thing ran for ten years, and spawned a craze that lasted from the 80's to early 90's. How are you gonna agrue that as the worst ever? Youd have an easier time agruing if it was the best ever.

Its not a matter of convincing though, if this were "what shows do you dislike" then yeah one man?s trash is another man?s treasure. But if your asking what cartoon was the worst ever and you pick Rugrats, then you'd be wrong. A worst ever list isnt suppose to subjective, its suppose to be objective. Thats my opinion on it anyway.

I'm just going to blurt it out.

Drawn Together.

What makes it the worst is that it had potential to be the one of the BEST series ever, but the writers blew it by subscribing to the belief that poop, farts, sex, gore, homophobia and racism were inherently funny and blundgeoned us over the head with that instead of having humor.

Ren and Stimpy's Adult Party Cartoon is a close second, for mostly the same reasons as Drawn Together.

I agree, the idea behind the cartoon was good, but the series was ruined by juvenile jokes and bad writing.

Never cared much for Bill and Mandy either. To many annoying characters and dumb jokes.

So essentially if it isn't the best thing ever made, it's a waste?

By that logic, 99% of all animation in the past 50 years has been a waste because it's not quite as amazing as What's Opera, Doc?

Comic Book Guy, I can't help but think you're taking things a bit too seriously. The thread could be titled, I suppose "What do you consider the worst cartoon ever created?" But I opted for the Simpsons reference (Which, you of all people should understand). There is no worst series ever, and thats not really the question. It's "What series did you enjoy the least?".

Nah bro Im not. ;)

And thats exactly what I was pointing out. IMO, the worst ever anything and what do you enjoy the least are two completely different things. The topic could of been interesting because I myself would of been interested in seeing a list of the worst cartoons ever made and discussing them to see which in fact was the worse, but instead you start the thread off by listing one of the most famous cartoons as the worst ever lol (that was hilarious btw).

The title says series, so I'm picking a live-action one.

GOOSEBUMPS
I fell out of my freaking chair when I read this on CN's schedule earlier. I mean, there is absolutely nothing I like about this show. This show is the perfect example of why books should stay just that.

Well, I was talking about action cartoons, but yes. I think series should only get better as time goes on, since people learn from other series and there's no real reason why a show has to stay formulamatic or derivative. If a show can have great writing and narrative, for example, then shows that follow it should be able to have at least as good of writing, since it's been established it's possible.

So all theater since Shakespeare is a waste?

The thing is that people can still come up with things that are new and worthwhile, even if it isn't the greatest ever made.

Unfortunately there are actually people out there who feel this way. And it's really sad.

I agree with Leviathan. Drawn Together had so much potential that they just completely botched at every opportunity. The entire show just bothered me. I wasn't offended or shocked by it but it bothered me anyway.

And yes Ren and Stimpy APC was trash. I had such high hopes for the show, but sitting through crap like "Altruists" and "Naked Beach Frenzy" was like watching paint dry. Only the paint was also making gay and poop jokes along the way.

Well, I'm not really a theater fan, so... (and theater is much different from television series, so that's a flawed comparison)

Fair enough. It's just after I see Beast Wars, I expect future Transformer series to be just as good, with developing characters, new members being added, old members being killed off, a nice continuing, developing, and engaging plotline, and when I get stuff like Energon and Animated I'm extremely disappointed they seem to be going backwards. Same with W.I.T.C.H., after seeing that, any action show that goes back to the same "random adventure/monster of the week" with little/no continuity and shallow/simple writing I just can't enjoy them anymore (which is more or less every action show since W.I.T.C.H. ended). It's like going back to eating canned spam after you've eaten a steak.

Scooby-Doo. Leader of the bad early Hannah-Barbera shows "movement". Before they started being a lot better after Time Warner bought their company with CN and whatnot.

The look of the show just has not held up well over time. I can tolerate the newer version of it. Actually I like those, but ask any critic, and Scooby-Doo is not going to be on any of their choices for best visuals. I say this because I am technically a very visually oriented person...And to add bad with bad, Scooby Doo has one of the most calculated formats ("badguy unmasked") in animation history, which is why I liked the first modern Scooby Doo direct to video film (the one with Tim Curry) because the supernatural element was finally actually there for a change. What a twist. :D
