Worst sequels ever

Bridget Jones, Edge of Reason, in strong contention for being the worst film I've ever seen (and I've seen Miss Congeniality 2  ).

Yes, the original version of "Highlander 2" was garbage. "Highlander 3", while not as good as the original, is better than 2.

However, the original "Highlander 2" has been replaced now by a different version called "Highlander 2: The Renegade Version" which is about 20 minutes longer and, I'm told, removes all references to them being extraterrestrials (I've bought the DVD but haven't got round to watching it yet). It seems like this was widely regarded as having been a mistake at the time and has been quietly dropped since - at least I've never heard any more alien references in what I've seen of the TV series either.

if you though Species II was bad you dont want to see Species 3 . They kill off Natasha Henstridge in the first 5 minutes and then ...well its pants lets just say .

I agree with the sentiment on straight to video sequals. I don't think i've ever seen one that's half as good as the original, and i don't think i ever will.

But it;s exactly the same film as the first - just in a different city! But then I hated the first one too :o

(Quite liked 3 though - but that was more for mr Irons)

That movie is brilliant. Wonderfully twisted and dark, all in the good way. No way that should be on this list.

You were right about all the rest, mind. ;)

Police Academy isnt a sequel .

Grease 2 is indeed dreadful . American Werewolf in Paris was crap .

I liked Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom though .

Poltergeist III is a horrible sequel. However Poltergeist II is not and still gets unfairly criticised.

I think it's very safe to say that Poltergeist wouldn't have had an equal or superior sequel to it even if Steven Spielberg & Tobe Hooper had been involved. II still thankfully retained the same two writers (Mark Victor & Michael Grais) who wrote the original with Spielberg as well as most of the original cast and crew. The expansion of the original's storyline was as good an idea as you could have asked for when entering sequel territory. It also had great box-office success unlike the next sequel that followed. Nuff said.

Spielberg has even praised Poltergeist II on many occasions in interviews whilst also addressing its obvious flaws.

The original is fantastic; II is a worthy sequel. I don't need to repeat myself yet again when it comes to III.

I must be the only person for whom that is my favourite of the three. Meh.

Can anyone explain why there were any sequels to Highlander? 3 & 4 were rubbish, but 2 was so bad that even the filmmakers pretend it didn't happen like some sad dirty little secret.
