Worst endings ever

Actually, Max was at least conscious of what had happened over the course of the series, and was ready to do things right this time around. It's an optimistic ending.

Also, I nominate most of the Teen Titans season finales, plus "Things Change".

The Simpsons:

Homer's Enemy

Did Frank Grimes have to deserve the pain for the stupid things Homer did?

Yes, 1996 Simpsons episodes on up.

Ed, Edd n Eddy: Do every episode have the Eds being laughed at all the time? I mean, it's Eddy's fault all the time, he deserves it most of the time.

Dexter's Laboratory: Do Dee Dee have to humiliate Dexter in just about every episode from the first seasons? Dexter doesn't even bother Dee Dee 98% of the time, and yet, Dee Dee purposely taunts him almost every episode she has a big part in.

You know what? Yes. Yes he did. He did because he had the misfortune to be pulled into Homer Simpson's world and he couldn't bring himself to just accept Homer's good-natured dimwittedness just like Lenny, Carl, Mr. Burns, Smithers, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and every other character on the show has learned to do. Grimes' efforts to convince everybody at the plant that Homer was not the good person they saw him as led to his self-destruction when they chose not to listen. For, you see, it was another example of the real world colliding with the Simpsons' world, and when the two walk into a room, only one ever comes back out. Anybody who exerts all their energy into forcing their beliefs on a society that would rather not conform to those beliefs is wasting their precious time. It's not happy, but it's the truth.

It's an extremely complex episode that not very many people like to analyze. If they did, though, perhaps they would see it in a new light.

Frank Grimes was a jerk who deserved what he got.

I did. So therefore your statement is incorrect!... in fact there were Sorato fansites, so I don't know where you're getting this from. o.0

I did not like the ending to... hmm.. let's see... Beast Machines. The series. Uh... I am drawing a blank but I know there is something. I was not a fan of how JLU ended. The series. Uh... I dunno. It'll come to me and I'll edit later.

Which, was the worst attempt ever at doing an "anime" ending, ever.

I think they were trying to do "And to all the children, congratulations."
but what got made was "And to all the children, Bugger off and watch Naruto or The Batman cuz we dun like you no more."

Because AFIK, -In Tokyo did nothing to rectify the damn situation.

Neh, Frank Grimes was rude to Homer, when Homer was perfectly kind to him and Grimes begrudged Homer all of his success... and because of that he stuck his hand into a high voltage wire. No one told him to do that, he did it because he refuses to accept Homer. And that's just not cool.

That's how YOU interpret it. To me it just screamed 'It was all just a dream...' which is the lamest ending you can think of.

I think the brilliant writers had finally written themselves into a corner... "Okay, we've killed off both of his friends, and Skull Master is on the verge of total victory... how the Hell are we going to make a satisfying, logical conclusion now?"

Slightly OT: Why does every thread involving episodes of shows get turned into discussions of "Homer's Enemy"? I mean almost half these posts are about the episode.

Yeah, but look at it this way: If there was ever a series revival, we could have*alternate* versions of some of those episodes, some where Max screws up even more simply because he KNOWS what's coming and trying to go a different route alters the outcome. Plus we'd get more of Max vs. Skullmaster on Skullmaster's turf, which was the highlight of season 1.
