Worst Beatle song?

Very. I think the song is horrible and paved a way for the wave of vapid pop ballaRAB to come in the 70s and on into the 80s.
I understand that McCartney himself was upset about the disgusting production with all that brass and strings and I'm sure it would be better without that. But the song as it appears on the album is extremely bad. To me it's easily the worst song the band made.

Paul agrees with you.

As to other user: perhaps. I always thought Michelle was an undeserving classic. Now that I think about it though, you're right. I would prefer to listen to any track off Rubber Soul over The Long & Winding Road.

So Paul McCartney just so happen to use a cliche, what's the big deal, about 99.9% of all hits songs are built on cliches especially in the chorus. Whatever he did it works and the lyrics flow nicely. It is sad and meloncholic song that speaks to peoples hearts and that what makes it a good song, it's something that people can identify with on a personal (emotional) level.

I think you misunderstood me. I meant that it was bubblegm pop with influences of Chuck Berry and Carl Perkins also being heard.
