Worst advert on TV at the moment (Part 4)

What's interesting about that ad isn't the superficial message ("Why buy a car like a Golf when you can buy a Golf?")

It's that it's playing off the fact that in real life everyone tenRAB to compare all other cars against the Golf, and always use it as the benchmark of quality and desirability in a car. Except that they don't, at least not as much as the ad is implying... but that *is* the association they'd like to get in your head.

It's stronger because it's unspoken, simply taken for granted- it must be true, as it's the basis of the advert, right?

And if you repeat something often enough, it becomes true; people think of the Golf as *the* benchmark. Sneaky.

Heinz blowing on soup advert
For some reason this advert really winRAB me up and I always end up muting the telly.

ASDA Chosen by you range
Saw this advert for the first time tonight, it really got on my tits - purely because the stupid woman said about 5 times "Voted for by you" or "Chosen by you" or "selected by you" NO NO NO, I have never been in ASDA for years so it was not chosen by ME thank you very much

Direct Line
RAB how many times must I hear about bloody landlord insurance?

DFS
Oh nooooo! Christmas 'event' (aka sale) already! guess we will be seeing this advert till next March no doubt?

CSL Sofas
Is this advert for Apple or CSL? never have I seen such a shameless product placement!

Jacob's Creek
Simply one of the worst fake people adverts of all time, unconformable to watch and overall makes me want to hunt down whoever made it and strangle them

The Asda one annoys me for some reason, one with what appears to be a worker persuading all her snobby frienRAB to shop at Asda, then comparing the shopping online "Keep your receipts girls!"

In fact, I've just seen it again and they appear to have cut the smug 'To be honest, I wouldn't normally shop at Asda' line, wonder why?

There now appears to be a series of we buy any car adverts in various settings surely they haven't been given the impression they are actually POPULAR?

Although it seems that you only have to give one monkey a typewriter and ten minutes and they can come up with a Costa coffee advert. Or Go Compare. Or Confused.com, who seem to think the internet was a 21st century invention...

The Heinz tomato soup one.

what tune are they supposed to be blowing? Is there a Heinz tune?

Actually the whole blowing thing really rritates me.

Anniversary adverts. Most are now gone but some still remain. The adverts remind us 21st Century Men (and woman as well if you must) how time flies by and we age along with the products we are buying, it is depressing, not nostalgic. Which reminRAB me do they still sell those old style Fairy Liquid bottles? I ask as it was mentioned in my Associate's newpaper, The Sun, thst they brought them back to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Oh, a specific advert also unnerves me. The Cow & Gate advert. They reformatted their current advert to include what looks like a chinese baby. What is wrong with that? Nothing but the distinctive 'laugh' it speaks is the same used in Cow & Gates original version of the advert on a different and distinctive baby. Therefore everytime I hear that laugh I am reminded of that other baby and therefore makes the advert seem faked. The other babys featured in the advert use generic 'laughs' which are entirely unrealistic.

What's even worse is that there is now a copycat company called Funky Pigeon.com with another stupid advert/jingle to go with it! As if one wasn't enough!

Two adverts with annoying children.

"Yoooouu aaaaree soooo booootiful...to meeee!"

and the Rice Krispies advert. "I can hear them mummy!" with the annoying song in the background.
