As previously mentioned, the direction/script does deserve a lot of blame if a performance turns out especially bad.
However, the woman playing Big Mo in Eastenders is noticeably poor for somebody who has been in it for 10 years. The young kids in soaps are usually awful, but I blame the producers and director for that.
I guess you could find dozens of awful performances from the decades of British soaps, mostly because they are churned out without much in the way of reshoots.
I sort of agree with you . Her acting is so over-the-top you kind of know she's acting. Her character, Rosie, is a bit of a rebel so that adds to her over-the-top way of performing.
Helen Worth as Gail is a fine actress but she does blink a lot. Kinda weird the way she does it in the big emotional scenes. If there's such a thing as bad 'blinking acting', she's the master at it!
She was absolutely horrendous. It didn't help that the character was so badly written and made so unlikeable.
I think, if memory serves me, Johnson was the daughter of a BBC producer...so at least that would explain how she got a job when she's as dire as she is.
Being a 'straight man' to comedy actors is no excuse for poor acting. Raquel was great, and she got her fair share of laughs. Cassandra was just very dreary and bland. In a way, though, that illustrated why she didn't 'fit in' with the Trotters (whereas Raquel did), so perhaps she was deliberately written that way. That said, the actress could have made a much better job of it.
very boring actor and i have had the misfortune to see him on a chat show or two in the past and he is just as boring (giving all future chat shows a wide birth)
