The worst actor I ever saw on British tv was the late Tony Melody...God he was awful!
I remember he appeared in a BBC comedy series called "Rule Britannia" with Roy Kinnear and Joe Lynch. Melody constantly fluffed his lines and laughed at his own punchlines! The classic example was at the end of the last show in the series (which I believe was being broadcast live) he was meant to deliver the final punchline of the show but instead went into a fit of laughter, lasting a good 20-30 seconds, meaning the line was delivered. You should have seen the look on the faces of Kinnear and Lynch. As a result of this unprofessionalism, the show was axed.
I still shudder thinking about his acting ability...or rather lack of it!
my vote goes to Georgina Hale, first saw her in T-bag when i was a kid and wrote off her performance as pantomime style hamming. I have seen over the years often in serous dramas and all her acting is hammy and over acted. I think a lot of theatrical actors belive that screen acting is below them and refuse to adopt a natural screen acting style when appearing in film/tv, so what ever part they are playing they seem hammy and overacted.
I agree, buttock-clenchingly bad, the kid must be related to one of the producers to get the job. Also, out of the same prog, Masood, really bad as an actor, the guy who plays Darren (got to be 'doing favours' to get cast).
I can't believe no-one has mentioned Adam Rickett. Even in the world of bad acting that soap operas so often are, he stood out as being truly awful. It was as if he watched the episode of Friends where Joey taught soap acting and took it seriously.
Yes, she is extremely limited, probably just playing an extension of herself really. But it has always "worked" for her, right back form her early days in "Sparrow's Can't Sing"...she was BAFTA nominated for that role !
oooh you bugger I was just going to post that! I can't work out whether he's taking the mick. I fear not.
Had a quick scroll and must stick up for Chris Bisson- he was great in East is East! I don't watch soaps so dunno about them.
I did see that bloke who played Don Beech off the The Bill on an advert for injury lawyers trying to act the big shot. We refer to him as the Human Vaccuum for obvious reasons....
Bonekickers..... *shudders* The writers of that got pure lucky when the wrote Life On Mars and Ashes To Ashes series 1 + 2. Shame they ruined it all with Ashes S3 and Danny Mays hammy and downright s**t acting in most of S3.
Sophia Myles who's just joined Spooks also gets my vote. Fake. Fake. Fake.
"Yuki" played by Will Sharpe? I have never seen acting as bad as this guy. It's unbelievable. I'm actually shocked by it whenever he appears on screen.
Totally agree - his eyebrows have got more acting ability than him!! Similar platitudes could also be given to Roger Moore as well, who I believe has been mentioned in this thread also...
