Worst actor to have ever appeared on TV?

I agree with everyone's choices so far, especially concerning soap opera actors.

Chesney from Coronation Street is my choice. He seemed to show great potential as a child, but he has not developed his acting skills since then. He seems to act with a slightly vacant look on his face, possibly trying to remember his lines.

I can usually forgive children and young people for wooden acting when they first join a soap because it's often their first acting job and they are nervous, plus the fast production of shows means little time for rehearsals. However, after a few weeks they should have settled down and be able to deliver a decent performance.

This is going to sound really cruel but the first one that springs to mind at the moment is the kid who plays Jamie in One Tree Hill. I'll be charitable and say it's also the terrible script they write for him which makes him sound like a 40 year old mini philosopher. From the moment he was cast though I did wonder if he's a relative of one of the production team.

Barry Van Dyke in Diagnosis Murder, if his dad hadn't been famous then this guy would have been drawing a dole cheque as soon as he left school.

The silly thing is that he was brilliant in a series before he went into Casualty. I cannot remember the name but it was about the IRA and he was an assassin!

The "guest artists" in Holby each week. I think the casting director should be sacked after the simpering woman with dodgy lipstick in it last week , so damn childlike and stagey.

Couldn't agree with this, she is one of the best actresses on the TV, everyone has their own opinions but I think she was amazing on the last series of Doctor Who.

Hannah Tointon who used to play Katy Fox on Hollyoaks. One of the most wooden actresses I have ever seen. Despite being from London she attempted a Northern accent which was laughable.

They were only kids so not going to blame them so much more they parents for putting them on screen. " of the worst were Martin Fowler, the original one from Eastenders and Robert Sugden, the original on from Emmerdale. Both got replaced, but they were bad beyond words of woodenness.
