I've been having mild back pain depending on the way i move. It does not happen all the time. When I got to sleep it's fine and when i wake up it is fine too but sometimes when i twist in a certain direction i get a quick pain in my lower back. Again it does not happen all the time. I was wondering what the problem could be. I will admit I am a bit of a hypochondriac so my first thought was Oh dear God Im dying from kidney disease but Ive come to understand that it may not be anything near kidney disease, it may actually have to do with my poor posture or flying as I am a pilot. Please let me know what you think. Again, it's very mild but occurs depending on something I do.

First of all - Welcome On Board!
This is the best place to read and talk to great peoplew who are here to listen and help each other.
I am not a Dr and I can't diagnose your problem.
Honestly I think it can relate to a problem in your lurabar area. Seems like this is what bothers you.
Due to your job (a lot of sitting) you could have some bulging, some DDD - it comes also with territory.:)
Don't worry for being hypohondriac - you are man, right? LOL

What I really suggest - go and see Spinal Ortho Dr. Only after some ex-rays (they don't show much though), MRI or CT they can determine what is wrong with your back. Meanwhile be careful with lifting heavy stuff.

Good luck to you!:)

Hi flyboy. Could be nothing more than maybe your spine is beginning to age like most and is causing your some mild irritation as it does many.

Do you exercise and especially your true core muscle group that supports your spine?

Being a pilot you sit for long perioRAB of time in a confined manner as well. This is obviously not good for spines and you need to be overly conscious about proper posture and exercise to keep your spine in the best shape possible.

I personally would make an appointment with your primary care doctor and just get checked out. I dont know that seeing a spine specialist is needed at this early stage for you, but it certainly is the best source of proper diagnosis of spine issues.

Hopefully it's nothing more than an awakening for you to pay attention to your body and working out and stretching, especially before flight time.

Keep us posted.
