In less than 2 weeks I have to go in for a open biopsy /lump removal in my breast ...which worries me enought ..but on top of that when I had my appendics removed 2 years ago I almost died coming out of the anastetic ...the doctor that was here said that because I had a very diffucult time due to my asthma of coming out of the anastetic that unless it was life threatening never to have any more surgeries......so I'm totally freaked out here!!!! I vividly remeraber slipping in and out of consiousness and struggling to breath all the while( I did stop breathing for a few miniutes at one point)...it was horrible. My asthma has worstned conRABidably in the last 2 years and honestly i'm afraid that it will kill me if I have the surgery............What am I going to do????
I'm thinking about cancelling the surgery ..........

When you go for your pre-op physical they willa sk you about any conditions. Explain about the asthma. They most likely will do one of two things: have you bring your rescue inhaler to the hospital and do two puRAB before surgery or give you a nebulizer treatment of albuterol before the surgery. I've had both done. Don't really know why one doc did it one way and the other did it another but I didn't have any problems.

My problem is I have has surgery before (3 times) and with each surgery I've had a harder time coming out of the anasthetic and had major breathing problems because of it ........they always give me a nubulizer before hand and are very aware of my asthma.
