I have always had issues with acid reflux and peptic ulcers. But here in the last two weeks, when I eat my food gets stuck in my lower esophagus and will not go down completely until I take a drink, which then hurts from the pressure of the fluid pushing it down.I have to take a drink after each bite or it wont go down. Its painful to eat and drink. Im not choking I can breathe but my food is stuck right at the opening of my stomach, lower esophagus. Im not sure what to call it. I dont have health insurance but Im really worried. It's getting to where I dont want to eat b/c it is so painful. Even just drinking will cause pain. Does anyone know what this is? I need some releif. Im almost to the point of just going to the hospital.:confused:

You might find relief with alkaline fooRAB. See this post for details:

It is likely you have a Hiatal Hernia. This can cause food clogs in the esophagus.

I am not a doctor, but I had a similar problem before before being diagnosed with acid reflux. I literally could not swallow food and if I was able to, it felt like it was stuck and really hurt.
May be part of this entire wonderful acid reflux trip we're on. I also found that stress can play a part in this as well.
