Worried me...

So my dog is really sick. I came out to the family room to use the computer and noticed he had hella thick bloody drool hanging from the sides of his mouth. And he had to use so much energy to get on the couch like he was hella old or soemthing. He's only 3 if that. So I called my mom to come out here and she was like wtf. So we called her boyfriend to come home and take him to the vet and we gave him some water. So now hes at the vet.

My mom thought it had something to do with the pet food recall but they've only eaten canned food once and that was the other day. and the brand wasnt on the recall list...so we dont know what it could be...

Damn, Rack, it saddens me to hear this. My kanine friends and I very close. My boy Roscoe got sick a couple of years ago and I took him to the vet. He was run down, sluggish and lethargic for a few days. I was horrified to see him in such a state. But after the medicine kicked in he started kicking ass again. When your dog comes back from the vet, show him much love. Affection from human friends and fellow pack members will go a long way to comforting him and aiding his recovery. Whether he is feeling like a champ or struggling through his final hour, it is wise to cherish every moment with your dog as a gift.

It was Iams that had the recall. My girlfriends cat that died not too long ago died from eating the Iams food that just happened to have a small dosage of a chemical in rat poison. Its gums and nose are normally pink, but they had turned yellow, and his eyes were sealed shut by yellow crap right before it died. It has different effects on different species.

No we usually feed them dry pedigree or however you spell it but for some reason they were fed canned pedigree. But pedigree wasn't on the recalllist. He's back from the vet, and they took a blood sample i guess and they're taking him back tomorrow. But apparently he was bleedin in his mouth cause he has 2 cuts in the back of his mouth one on each side. And the vet put his finger up his butt and he was bleeding a little there so maybe he ate something...

I dunno, Ill fill ya guys in tomorrow.

Alright so here's the deal. He's dying. His organs are shutting down and he can barely move...I dont know what to do. His chances are apparently not so great. And I guess we could get this HELLA expensive treatment and that would only make his chances 30%. He looks fine...from 5 feet away...but hes in awful pain.

This blows...

I'm really sorry to learn of this, Rack. If it my were dog in that position, I enjoy the little time I have left with him and try to make him as comfortable as possible. Depending on how grim the situation, and how much pain he's in, you should steel yourself and be prepared to send him on his final journey. If his last days are nothing but a relentless trial of pain and agony, you would do him a great service by sparing him that.
If he's entering a terminal state, but still has some an appetite, get him a filet mignot and let him spend his last hours with dignity, doing what dogs love doing: eating meaty yum-yums. Then, send him to join Anubis.

:hug2: I'm really sorry  I know it hurts, but if he's in so much pain, and he doesn't have a chance to live, you may want to consider putting him down. You'll be helping him rest. He won't be in pain anymore, and he won't have to live the rest of his life in this uncomfortable, sick state of being.

I truly believe that dogs appreciate the choice if it means they don't have to suffer any more. I miss my first dogs. My mother didn't want to make that decision to put my dog down but he was bloated and obviously in a lot of pain. I was the only one he'd allow to hold him, but I wasn't even there to comfort him. They finally made the right choice to put him down. He was spunky. Old but spunky and he really seemed like he had more life in him, but he had stomach cancer, and it was apparently eating him up. I cried, I missed him so much, but I just knew it was the right thing to do.

:hug2: Rack I know what it's like to lose a dog. Treated well, they can be a better friend than a person, and it saddens me to hear about this. You can always talk to me about it if you want, but from the looks of things everyone's being supportive. Props to everyone.

The vet told us our dog had only about 2 months to live, and now its been over a year. But still, prepare for the worse. Losing pets is never easy, unless you're heartless like brionwosh.
