World Trade Center

The trailer for the next 9/11 film is out.

This one, as you can guess, is based on the events at the WTC and stars Nicholas Cage.

Based on the trailer it seems a bit strange. Its focus is the heroic Fireman who put their lives on the line to save those in the burning towers. The trailer indicates that some of the firecrew survived the towers collapse and shows them buried under the rubble - now I assumed that wasn't the case. It makes it feel alot more 'hollywood' then say United 93.

Wonder what the reactions will be to this one?

Many firemen were trapped (and many sadly killed) under the rubble on 9/11 as they were on the scene trying to rescue people when the towers collapsed. The film is based on a true story.

It should make for an interesting movie.

it looks like a generic action film by the trailer. more michael bay than oliver stone.

it would be better done as a musical or with aliens in

It sounRAB like a film made of the book written by one of the fireman, i can't remember what he's called though, maybe Pitch? not sure, but they did get trapped in an airpocket and managed to escape, really good book actually.

Its on most movie trailer sites. I tend to go to the Apple one, or you can google World Trade Center movie.

I didn't realise that anyone had survived the towers collapse which is what I questioned about the movie.

The trailer looked poor to me - astonishingly from the iconoclast Oliver Stone it just looked like a dumb hollywood take on events.

United 93 looks better, less crassly manipulative anyway.

Seeing some of the footage in the WTC trailer reminded me that when it happened in 2001, everyone said "it was just like a hollywood movie". And now hollywood is recreating real events that look like hollywood...

My head is beginning to hurt, better go to bed.

Wish they hadn't used a 'known' actor in Cage though, just looks wrong in the trailer, an unknown would have made it more believable (not saying it isn't true!) but I suppose they did it to sell the film...

Yes I think that was a mistake. What's made United 93 do well is them using unknowns in all the roles. The focus is then on the actual events that took place and not on a celeb. I guess it seems more tactful to the relatives of those that died.

I need to research how many people survived the collapse of the towers. I can't believe I never knew that anyone had survived.

The trailer is (...unsurprisingly) patriotic....I cringe in the scene where Nic Cage says "Who's coming with me?" & one by one they stand forward it's like...cliche much?!

Still, it will be very moving and very weird to watch an action movie on events that really happened, unlike Titanic, in my view, which was an event that was not fo my time and wasn't covered so much by the media. 9/11 is still, I think, very fresh in people's memory, 5 years on.
