compare the attitudes of Western European countries and the US toward imperialism with the response of indigenous people to imperialism. What types of additional documentations would be useful to determine the attitudes toward Imperialism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

You're going to have to research this and write your own paper my friend. The assignment is very specific and esoteric.
 
Basically, Western European countries were obsessed with imperialism because they wanted new land, which meant a fresh supply of raw materials that were otherwise unattainable. The United States believed strongly in imperialism because of one major concept, Manifest Destiny, which stated that America had the right to expand into new territories.
Obviously, the indigenous people didn't like the fact that their land was being invaded by foreigners...
