I am buying a house from my parents, and have questions about the house.
The house has old electric wires, but new service and some outlets etc. If the newer stuff was added (years ago tho) and is not up to todays codes, will i have to change it? Do they know how many outlets there is in the house, etc.
Also, another shower was added in the basement, i think without a permit.
Can I get in trouble for this, or is it grandfathered in?
What about stuff done when the house was built (1930's) that may not have had a permit then? For example, the walls werent build right. Does a house get grandfatered in unless they catch you doing something? Thanks.
The state is indiana, county is marshall.
