Work Annoyances Thread #2

So sorry I haven't responded to your posts!! I was on vacation and I just came back today.

Well, while asking for more responsibility to prove I am ready for a promotion is a good idea and may work in other situations I work for the state and there is no promotion possibilities. Also- my job is getting ready to turn into the busy season (so yeah for that!) so I don't want to ask for more because shortly I'll be really, really busy. I was just looking for suggestions for the down times.

I like the posting on FF more. That solves the typing problem (I was afraid she would notice my lack of typing if I were reading something). So- thanks!!

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

 Let's stay on topic here. ;)

There is always something good to be discovered in life. And even annoying jobs can have a positive point since that's how we get paid!

I agree with both Lem and Astra

Either suggestion is great. I'm in a call center and pretty much to keep me sane during the day, is posting all day on FF

 That's an even better suggestion. If you ask for more work and you do the work well, you could get promoted.

Annoying co-workers who dress inappropriately, are LOUD all the time and who butt into your personal lives even though it's clearly none of their business.

I don't like being put in charge of things where I work. My boss is off on leave and it is putting so much pressure on me. I'm totally stressing out with all this responsibility. I'm just an clerical worker yet have to answer everyone's questions and handle things that I don't normally handle and everything that could go wrong seems to be going wrong. I'm completely freaking out!

I’m so incredible mad right now. I’m so tired of stupid, disrespectful people. I work in and office and the girl that seats next to me got some visitors that came to the office for training so she had to prepare a coffee break for them. I usually do that when we get visitors but today it wasn’t my responsibility it was hers. So she asked me for help and I basically did everything for her. After we were done she didn’t even have the courtesy to thank me. I mean I did all this work and I didn’t even get a thank you. On top of that she looked mad at me so I asked her if everything was ok and she practically barked at me.

To make things worst I have my brother’s graduation party on Friday. I asked my boss for permition to go and she told me to come to the office leave go to the ceremony and come back when I’ done. So I was like ok. I called my mom and she told me that afterwards they are going to have lunch and made me feel completely guilty for not going. So I was talking to the other girl that seats next to me and I told her that I thought it wasn’t the right thing to leave work to go and have lunch. Then I remember that the same girl that didn’t thank me actually left the office ones to go to the wedding of her boyfriend’s brother and then went for lunch. So I was thinking maybe she got mad at me for what I said. But honestly she was out of line.

I’m so mad because I have a horrible boss who won’t give me the day off, a horrible partner who won’t thank me and who gets benefits I don’t get. I hate me job and I hate my life, God I’ so mad.: mad:

 That's true. And it reminds me of something that my stepdad used to say: A change of work is as good as a vacation. It can be really refreshing to do something a little different.

I know the feeling. One customer looked like he wanted to smack my supervisor because there wasn't enough pieces of chicken for his meal (we can only fill up to a certain amount).

Otherwise, either they are like that or they're actually understanding about it. I'm usually polite to the workers unless if they really, really messed up my order and that I'm late for whatever it is I'm doing.

Good suggestion! :D or this may be a sucky suggestion, but it came to mind, so I'll mention it anyway; ask for more responsibility. They might see it as someone ready for promotion (which equals more money/prestige/perks) and your day would definitely pass by faster... which to me would be better than having to pretend to work....

That's true. Even without promotions or a raise, sometimes people just want to mix it up a little and try out tasks that demand more creativity rather than doing the same old thing repeatedly day in and day out.

Stupid Truckie put fruit and vegs in the hot truck :sigh: instead of the Cold Truck
My bosses and work mates are pissed off because fruit and vegs isn't good in the hot truck

Thanks- I didn't see the Work Annoyance thread- so that works!

Yeah- on top of all that I do prefer to by totally by myself. I like the peace and quiet. Now I have to deal with her phone, people coming in to see her, her typing and clicking. It's annoying. Good thing I actually like her as a person!

 That sounds like a really frustrating situation. I'm a really private person, too, so I know I would have a hard time with my space being invaded like that.

Seems like you're doing the right stuff, and the only other thing to do is to find ways to keep calm until you become accustomed to the new situation.

..........BTW, we already have a thread here for "Work Annoyances" but since it's almost at 300 posts, I'm just gonna close it and re-title this thread so that it will be our new Work Annoyances thread.
