Work Annoyances Thread #2

We schedule other independent contractors to go places. You would think that if they were going to be more then 10 min late that it would be common sense to call and tell us. But NO. They don't think of this. Instead I call when they are 25 min late already for them to tell me that they are going to be there in another 15-20, don't actually end up there until they are 1hr 15min late and then give me an attitude because they didn't write down the room information correctly!!

 That sounds like my boss. No one ever wants to tell him when something goes wrong cause before you can finish he's already ripping your head off. It must be a pre-requisite that a boss must also be an ass

I have two major problems at my work right now.

The first one involves my actual job. I'm a Quality Control Officer and I work in a family owned and run business. As such, some of the staff have been there for a fair few years. The problem with those staff is that they're sick of the job, and are only staying to get their long service after 10 years, so they don't do the job properly, but because of they're "experience", they don't get punished for anything!! It drives me mental!!! They screw up on a daily basis, but they're untouchable

My other problem is more personal. I've got a real bad case of fantasy lust. We just hired a new Production Supervisor and I can't stop thinking about him! He's cute, he makes me laugh like you wouldn't believe, he's nice, BUT he's married and more to the point so am I. Not that I'd ever cheat on my husband, and I love him to death, but we're not exciting. We never really were and I never realised how much I crave that, so now my head is full of naughty thoughts about another person!! I really hate myself for it but I also can't stop it!

Why do things have to be so bloody complicated!!!!

Not really an annoyance but I'm finding it hard juggling being a senior to half my team (since I got promoted over a year ago) and staying friends with them. It's just weird trying to maintain friendships while working with the same people since you do have to tell them off sometimes. Which I'm apparently not very good at. Gah.

Getting bitten. One of the hazards of pet-sitting. Right now I've got an infected cat-bite and it hurts!

The owner saw her cat bite me. She never asked if I was okay or offered me a bandaid or anything. She just complained that my blood dripped on a blanket. And, worst of all, she punished the cat--IMHO, there is no excuse for hitting an animal.

I think I posted this here one time. I'm not sure. I do remember posting it in my LiveJournal.

This was back when I worked in this one particular store. Most of my co-workers who worked with me on customer service were pretty annoying to say the least (the first half of the year I worked, my co-workers weren't so bad but the second half from August to February, most were immature). But there was this one co-worker who wanted me to work his night shift (I was supposed to work the day time) and I told him a couple of times that I started at 10am and he said "okay" a couple of times. Another supervisor knows at that time. (There are three prior to when I left)

Turns out, I get a call at 10:15 from one of my supervisors asking me where I am. My brother, thankfully, showed some mercy and dropped me off because I wasn't going to put up with it, really. If that co-worker couldn't make it, then he's off on his own. I felt sorry for my supervisor because other than the cook, she was the only one there.

And then the co-worker shows up at 11! What the hell? I told him 10! And here he is saying that he thought I started 11 (another co-worker was supposed to start at 11 as well). Since my supervisor pretty much sensed that it could boil up in to something that would scare the customers off, she advised the both of us to take it to the back.

That co-worker told pretty much begged me to take his night shift but I told him no. Plus, it was really difficult heading to work in the first place because on that day, there was huge traffic. He kept saying that he had something to do that night but I told him that I wasn't willing to come back again for a second round because it was a waste of time. Maybe after about fifteen minutes, and with less customers, I relented and left the place in a pissed off mood. Because I didn't have the car, I had to call my brother and even he was wondering what the hell was going on. (He cheered me up by suggesting that he dressed up as ninja, walk in to the store, and say "Where's the late one?")

I don't know how my manager found out I was pissed because when I left, I tried to keep a straight face (can't scare the customers off because you never know if one of them is an inspector) because he called me to apologize, which he honestly didn't need to do since he wasn't involved in this whole fiasco. If anything, that co-worker needed to apologize to me AND my brother for putting us up with this.

Hopefully, the next job I get doesn't have immature teenagers on its list.

So, I started this thread a long, long time ago. I didn't even know it was still open! I guess not enough people have work issues to vent, huh?

I have been able to "hide" my downtimes pretty well, when I have them. With this economy I just am not doing as much of my job (hiring people) as I would like. I find on the days I actually have a lot of work and am busy all day long I am happier and the day goes by faster. I hate slow days!

My only work annoyance right now is that my office mate never leaves the office! I like alone time and I never feel I get any. Our office isn't very big and we are pretty close to each other. The good thing is that the way I have my desk situated we do have a little bit of a barrier, but she is just always THERE! But, she's a nice person so at least there's that. If she were bitchy or mean or even just stupid I think there would've been a homicide in here by now!

Aw, that sucks. I'm sorry that they treat you like that

I really hate it when people at work expect others to bail them out of their mistakes and then don't even thank you for it. This woman had arranged a meeting then didn't have the key to the side room that has the projector and stuff in. So she calls my boss, who being helpful tries to find someone who can go and set it up for her. No one is around so I go and get the key to this room, and go and try and help her set up. And when they'd got it working she just walks off to her seat without saying anything. So I leave the key with her and ask her to return it when she's finished and she barely acknowledges me. Silly cow. If she doesn't return that key, I'll be the one who gets in trouble  :irked: It just annoys me that I spent about 30 minutes in all walking around and trying to help her when she has nothing to do with me and my work at all and she can't even say thank you.

I've been through similar stuff. Except for the second half of the year that I worked, I didn't trust most of my co-workers (that worked in customer service with me) or my manager (at least business wise. Personally, he's a really friendly guy).

:::::bad words::::: Bosses who don't think you "need" to get paid. :::::::more bad words::::: :furious:

When we're short-staffed and it's busier than hell, so trying to keep up with the work just becomes a huge stress. Also when bosses ride you for no particular reason and just add to the stress :irked:

I need to practice putting on these faces: :) :D :glow: when people suggest things that make me want to do these faces instead:  :blank:  :jaw_drop:

Sometimes, I don't even know whether I should laugh or cry when certain suggestions are made.

Wow :( how awful for you  yeah, another job would be alot better

I hate ironing  I only iron 2 items a week for work for every Sunday
