Word of advice: Dont wast your money on Bose!!!!

Ok, reading through the forum I see ALOT of people saying that they have some some sort of Bose headphones/speakers that they use with their Nseries or other music devices.

Why Am I writing this? To warn you that Bose is taking us for a ride....selling overpriced products, when you could get a better performing product from another company for the same price. And probably must be thinking "But I heard bose is good right?" Well fro who? Bose products never publish the performance or wattage specs and have you ever seen a thx certified Bose system?

Take for example the Triport headphones or quietcomfort headset...very expensive and sub-par performance, all of this while you could get a better headset from Sennheiser, Shure, ultimate ears or etymotic.

Another example would be their $1,299.00 Bose Accoustimas, that even the Creative Gigaworks pc speakers ($499) beats it and sounds way better.


In other words don't waste you money buying things from them for you music phones, better performing alternatives for the same price elsewhere.

I dont like anthing from them. My car stereo sucks and Ill never pay for their "Premium Package" again
 
The only bose that I've ever heard sound decent is the factory system in my Pathfinder... sounds better than most factory systems out there.

Of course I didn't pay for it, it came with the vehicle... had I bought the truck new, I would've just got the low end system to save some money, and put in an aftermarket system instead (which is what I'm doing now that the bose is falling apart ,buttons falling off). I won two pairs of Quiet Acoustic 3's or whatever they are called, the ones that are like 299, and sold them both to buy a phone a couple of years ago .

I've always been happy with Sony circumaural's on the low end, and Sennheiser's on the high end. I don't have any experience with canal phones though, so have been trying to decide what a good pair are for around 50 bucks, that I can throw in my backpack for use with my n80.

FYI, don't bother trying to drive any circumaural's with your phone... you need an amp to really get good sound out of it.

Im not disagreeing with you guys but take my example into mind. Had an L7 when it first came about, seem edited it to go a bit louder. Realized that when taken even a step louder, the headphones that came with it (mini usb) sounded like complete garbage. I then concluded that getting a mini-usb -> Headphone adapter (good one cingular not crappy un amplified one) would solve the problem. So spent over $30 on this adapter plugged in my B&O headphones thinking it was going to be all good. Boy was I wrong, same problems. Sometimes it could be the phones ports or audio processing causing the problems is what im getting at.
 
I do agree with this, no phone can drive headphones the way a good DAP, or even better a good 'ole fashioned CD Player can. But the point that the OP is ranting about is that, regardless of the audio source, Bose are an absolute overpriced waste of money. Their bass response is ****, and you can't even really drive them very high without high levels of distortion.

Even with a good CMOY they still end up sounding ****** compared to cans costing even 30 or 40 bucks.

what product is that? and good in what way?

Performance: performance wise they don't ever get the THX seal or post performance or wattage specs. They just make the sound so that it will sound in a way that it will be "a crowd pleaser"....boomy bass and in your face and not really good performance.

Quality: they use low quality materials.

I really want to know what good product that is.

sennheiser PX100 is the BEST low end traditional headphones for portables, followed by Koss PortaPro series
 
No, I own a '03 Nissan Pathfinder, but when I graduate this year I am planning on getting the Infiniti G35 coupe. Hence my username, Ive been in love with the car for years.

Oh and they dont come standard in the vehicle
 
Sorry to disrupt the Bose bash, but I can't help but disagree.

Sure, bose are overpriced, but don't say that the quality is bad, because it really isn't.

One thing I've come to accept in the US is that you're paying for the name. Gucci, BCBG, Coach, Prada, Sub Zero, do you see what I'm getting at? From home refridgeration to the clothes you stick on your back, it's all about the name and style. That's just one way to look at it.

I own the 3.2.1 GS Home entertainment system. Setup was a breeze, basically 2 cables is all I had to connect, and the audio quality is amazing.

I just went and bought the Triport headphones. Comftorble, great sound, fits well.

But hey, maybe there are better products out there that YOU prefer, rock on man. I'm just not sure why you felt you had to voice your opinion.
 
Nope, sorry... they don't sound good. They sound horrible. Go listen to a pair of Martin Logan's or Tannoy's then a set of BOSE .

BOSE sound horrible, it's a fact. All they run are several full range speakers (thinking of the 901 flagship speakers ) and expect it to play everything, yet they have no high range, and lack in the low range. This is because they have no tweeters to play the higher freq. and no woofers for the lower freq.'s.
 
Comparing the Bose system for the Ipod to the Ipod hi-fi system there is no comparison really. The Ipod version smokes the Bose system in every way. For fifty bucks more it's a no brainer.
