Wood TW6-6 TW-555 Cam Dyno Test by Fuel Moto

The quality of the items and the service from Revolution Performance is absolutely top notch which is why we are using them for the machine work and cylinders, they also have no problem customizing work to our specs and are only 50 miles from Fuel Moto. For reference Revolution Performance is also the only manufacturer in the world that offers a Lifetime Warranty on the bore and plating on their cylinders. We have had "several" companies contact us over the last several years wanting us to put together packages using their components however we chose Bobby Wood for his cams and Revolution for the cylinder kits and heads simply because these are both companies with the integrity and product quality we are looking for.

So Jamie that bieng said should I not worry about the "added stress on the valve train" of the 96" stocker from the 555 that my tuner is concerned about?

I purchased a set of Woods 555 cams and install kit from Fuel Moto. I placed the order Friday and received the parts here in Georgia yesterday.

So far the install has went great thanks to the advice and tips on this forum and following service manual instructions.

I need to pick up a .120 cam spacer after work today and wrap up the install.

I requested a PC III map for this cam when I placed my order and also by email. Hopefully Jamie or Keith will email it to me today or tomorrow so I can be ready to fire it up!

We have installed many, many Wood cams and we have also done long term testing specifically on the effects on the valvetrain. There is no more stress on the valvetrain with the TW6-6 or TW-555 cams than with other similar performance cams, if there was any question running them in a 96" we would note specific requirements to do so. The TW-555 is really just a variation of the TW6-6 with .0045 more lift and 2 more degrees of duration. Most interesting is that your tuner was recommending the Mackie 575 cam which has more lift than the TW-555, and with .575 lift the Mackie 575's are near the threshold of what is considered safe with stock valve springs.

Awesome thread! Which Woods cam would you recommend for a Softail that is always ridden solo? I like midrange power. Don't care about drag racing or top end horsepower. Just want more kick...looking for a good all around street cam.
