Wonderful time in Maine

I have been enjoying Rt 11 between Brownsville Junction and Millinocket of late.
Riding up around Sugarloaf was a good ride recently. The coast East of Ellsworth is beautiful and not terribly crowded. However, after labor day, we start getting all of our roads back. Really, there is a ton of scenic rides up here without a lot of traffic.
Shell for 93 octane.

Rt 11 you say ?? Mighty fine piece of road between Fort Kent and Sherman Station........open roads with long gradual hills.
We did Rt 1 from Ellsworth to Fort Kent, gassed up and turned left
on Rt 11.....and came back into civilization 120 miles later.

Rt 201 north from Skowhegan to Jackman is a scenic ride....and you travel
past a brewery...
Rt 9 east from Brewer to the Calais is a fantastic cruising road....
Rt 1 north from Calais to Houlton goes through a balsam fir growth....

This state is made for a "day-ride".....you can easily get anywhere you
want to go, have some lunch and get home without hurrying, and without
riding the super-slab if you like.

+1 on Maine. My 1st time in the NE. If not for the cold winters Bar Harbor would be my new home. LE was no problem at all. People there are great. People leave the keys in their car and stuff on the seat. My head damn near exploded. It's like the 50's in FL. Got a room in town and drank mightily. Walked back to the room. Nice place, nice people.

RT 9 from Calais to Brewer is one of my favorite roads. It is in great condition after many yrs of construction.Great turns, hills and passing lanes.Just gotta keep an eye out for a stray moose.

Plan to go to Maine next year. I would love to go as far north as possible, then maybe go down the western side, but it looks a little desolate. Anyone ever traveled that side of the state much?

The western side of Maine is absolutely beautiful and a lot less crowded than the coast. Check out the Rangely, Sugarloaf, Bethel and Fryeburg areas. Very beautiful areas.
