Wonder Woman

Joss Whedon will direct Warner's Wonder Woman in the new big screen film to be produced by Joel Silver.
"Wonder Woman is the most iconic female heroine of our time, but in a way, no one has met her yet," Whedon said in a statement. "What I love most about icons is finding out what's behind them, exploring the price of their power. When Joel and I began discussing the character, I realized there is a woman behind the legend who is very fascinating, very uncompromising and in her own way almost vulnerable. She's someone who doesn't belong in this world, and since everyone I know feels that way about themselves, the character clicked for me."
Joss Whedon does seem like the perfect person to direct Wonder Woman especially after his experience of strong female characters in Buffy!

I loved wonder woman (had the outfit and everything - even used to spin around thinking that I would actually turn into her ! - oh childhood !)

Wish they would stop remaking things noone can beat Linda Carter as wonder women either

I think Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter will be high on the list to play Wonder Woman after working with Joss Whedon previously on Buffy!
Joss Whedon will also be writing as well as directing this big screen version of Wonder Woman.
Producer Joel Silver has been talking about signing Joss Whedon to direct Wonder Woman:

"There's no one better than Joss to adapt the legendary Wonder Woman comic book character created in the 1940s into a dynamic feature film for 21st century audiences," Silver said. "Wonder Woman was the first great female superhero to emerge from comic books and later inspire millions of fans in her television incarnation, but unlike her counterparts Batman and Superman, this groundbreaking heroine has yet to be reinvented for the feature film arena."

It will be very interesting to see how Wonder Woman is shown for a modern audience!

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this! Wonder Woman was my heroine, and there is no beating Lynda (sp?) Carter!!

The best bit was the invisible aeroplane! :)

CHARISMA CARPENTER is still the best person to play Wonder Woman.
That said, Linda...Lynda Carter is still the best Wonder Woman by far.

My vote goes for Morena Baccarin.
She's not as well known (which is a good thing IMO) and she certainly looks the part.

She played Inara in Josh Whedon's "Firefly".

Lucy Lawless would be great but I read the studio wanted Kim Basinger or Jessica Biel.

I would prefer a charismatic unknown - like Linda Carter was at the time.

I agree that Joss Whedon is the right person to direct WW as he is very good at strong ladies in leading roles ie (Buffy) Would love to see Lucy Lawless do it as she is strong and dark haired naturally.

I hate to disappoint all the fans of the original TV series but Joss Whedon has already stated that his version of Wonder Woman will not wear star spangled panties like in the Lynda Carter's TV series!

Im sorry but they were taking the piss when inventing this character. One of their first femal superheroes and they give her the pathetic powers of a truth telling whip?!! and bracelets which deflect bullets?! Im thinking they just got aggro from the wife, because there weren't enough super heroines, so came up with this one as a joke. I watched some fo the old movies, they were awful!!!

Joss Whedon has stated that he is months away from casting Wonder Woman "Everybody is in agreement that casting is not an issue right now," he says. "It's not a vehicle to be built around a particular star. We want to write the thing, find the right character and then figure out who should play her. There are various famous people whose names have come up, because that always happens, but you know, we're talking about Wonder Woman here. Those are tough booties to fill." So it looks like we will have to wait a while to find out who will be the lead role!
He does have an idea of what sort of age his Wonder Woman will be "I think we will go a little younger than the traditional idea of Wonder Woman," he says "It's a movie, not a party for my frienRAB." So from this coment it would seem like Jessica Biel would be an idea front runner for the role of Wonder Woman!
