Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Your first period can look like this also.

It could be your body getting ready for your first period, or it could be your first period.
 
Hi everybody. I am 13 years old and I have been getting brown vaginal discharge for about two days yet. I have had normal discharge for like a year. I have never gotten my period before. I would ask my mom, but I don't have one :/ So, is this normal? If so, am I close to getting my period? And If so, in how many days? Sorry for asking so many questions, i just want to be prepared when I first get my period. Thank you so much, everyone!
lol I don't think this is just the start of puberty.... I have boobs and hair and everything for like 1 1/2 years.....
 
Yes, ur going to start ur period soon! U may never no when until u start seeing it because everyone starts it on different days. I had this problem too, and like a week or two later I started my period. :)
 
Yeah, that's normal and you probably are getting close to your period. It could be anywhere from about 5 days to one day away, so make sure you get pads/tampons soon, just in case. Tampons work the best.
 
It sounds like your body is preparing for your period. When is anyone's guess. Carry some feminine products with you. You will probably be irregular for the first 6months to a year. Good luck!

Edit: It may be that all you get is this spotting. You may not get a real heavy period right away. But if you don't get any further bleeding this time I would count this spotting as your first period.
 
Well, actually, the brown discharge does sound like your period, or at least you're on your way to your first "normal" period. Sometimes during your first or last days, your period is actually a brown colour. When I first got my period, for a couple of seconds I thought I had soiled my pants, until I realized what it really was.

It might be that this is the start of your period and it will turn more red after, or maybe in a few months you'll get a heavier one. But this is completely normal, and nothing to worry about. Sometimes if you just get lighter periods it can be brown too, and not a red colour.
 
WOW ur 13 and you knw so much about discharge.. When you get ur period ur never going to be prepared lol.. what about if thats ur period

I probably think that you will recently strat your period girl at the other hand have you ever had sex with any manif nto that's means you are perfect if not you probably have to see the doctor .such things dont happen to girls before they start their I have naver heard of that but you ahve to be strong and to join us in our real world .Good luck girl
 
When i started mine i never had brown discharge. But i think thats a sign your starting puberty, cause that would ever happen unless you did. get stocked up on pads and tampons. If you dont know how to use tampons they have directions on the thingy. GET ibuprofen!!! Cramps are a killer. Drink lots of water. Get big pads for nightime.
