I don't think there would be a point to a relationship without it.

edit: My answer was in response to a romantic relationship. A business relationship is completely different. While I like to connect with a lot of my coworkers on more than just a get the job done level, I don't think it is a requirement and have worked with great people who I have only discussed business with.

for busness relationships, that is just fine, but for friends and loved ones, it is unsatisfactory
