...financial responsibilities? Just so you know: I'm pro life and wouldn't like to see either one done, but the point remains valid nonetheless.
I constantly hear the "MY body MY choice" argument made in the abortion debate... basically saying that the father, and more importantly, the government should have no say/intervention in the outcome of a pregnancy. At the same time however, if a woman decides to keep the child, there's this expectation that the father WILL support them financially, and that the very same government I mentioned earlier WILL intervene and force is support. Whether he agrees to it or not, which brings up the question:
How is it that a woman is given a "choice" but for a man, it's an automatic responsibility? It takes both people to conceive the child, yet if the father expresses his desire to keep the child he hears "MY body, MY choice", as if his role in the conception holds no merit... but oh wait a minute, let's say that same man expresses his desire to abort and the mother decides to keep it. It's still HER body and HER choice so by law, shouldn't it be HER responsibility from there on???
THANK YOU tro and epocs999 for understanding this. The question is really about the responsibilities of BOTH people involved. If fathers are expected to uphold their responsibilities, there's no reason mothers shouldn't as well. (unless there's a medical reason) how else can you justify an elective abortion? isn't that irresponsible too?
idk if it's being done blatantly or subconsciously, but some of this hypocrisy is mindnumbing lmao
wow lol, if a man doesnt wanna have a child, he shouldn't be having sex... i understand that, why isn't that being said about women? some of ya'll aren't even addressing that side of it lol
