WM Treo "flash" via *228xx

I have a verizon branded Treo 700w
I found that one of the prl update codes (*22804 for NM markets) brings me to a cricket OTA prompt.
Of course, it failed on me because I havent updated my ESN with cricket yet, i was just trying it out.

Once i do an ESN change with them, that *22804 should pull the correct cricket PRL onto the phone, and program my MSN/MDN pair and anything else that neeRAB to be done on the NAM side, right?

Therefore i should be good to go on voice/text without a cable... and just have to tackle mms and web after that, correct?

i thought the 228xx codes didnt work for the palm os's.

Anyhoo. Just for anyone else with a verizon WM palm, *22804 worked fine.
You need to remeraber to do the ESN swap with cricket first, tell the rep its already flashed, then when they tell you o *228 it, *22804 instead.

Worked like a charm.

Now... to tackle MMS and WAP

so according to you all you have to do is take an unaltered verizon wm palm *22804 it after an esn swap and thats it? please confirm I might do this to my mom's phone
edit: will it do something to your bill or make you go on constant roaming?

Actually, it worked on a palm OS treo 650 as well.

It technically should work on ANY unlocked CDMA phone that allows OTASP and has a MSL of 000000.
Sprints wont work, because they lock their phones, MSL is never 000000 and their firmware doesnt allow OTASP

If its a verizon phone, dial *22804 BEFORE the esn swap. That tells the phone to dial into the C band pcs provider.

Cricket is usually on 1900mhz band C
Verizon, and usually Alltel are usually A and B on the PCS band

If you dont get cricket's OTA message (which will error out, but you just need to confirm its cricket) then try *22802 thru *22807 until you do hear cricket's music.

Once you've confirmed which PCS band its on, do your ESN change thru cricket, then dial whichever 228xx code you've already confirmed is cricket.

22804 is usually a good start though.

What specific market are you in?

if i just want text and talk on a palm treo i am getting do i have to do anything to the phone except call cricket give them the esn and do the *22804?

will that switch it over to cricket? or is there something else i will need to do?

also if i buy a treo with a bad esn will i still be able to flash it to cricket?

yes, you can flash a bad esn to cricket...to do *22804 sometimes you need to set the sid and then set MDN/MIN to six zeros and the last four of your dec esn...this step is not always required...do you live in houston...if so, i can flash this for you with working internet...i normally charge $50 but b/c you are on here...i will do for $20...these are no prob for me b/c i have a special cable (shadowmite)

pm me if you are interested

you can build your own cable for the cost of solder iron, solder, $15 for futuredial cable after shipping, and $5 for treo cable after shipping from ebay.

absolutely incorrect my friend...the futuredial cable is usb with prolific2303 usb to serial converter chip that has the 3.3v line driver...read up on shadowmite site below and get your cable at the other site below...

to find out the correct ports on the treo go to pinouts.ru
